Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 September 2026

Auster is a focus timer that blocks distracting apps during a session. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and who else sees it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who we are

Auster is operated by Ali Ozan Özmelek, Türkiye. For anything in this policy, including data access and deletion requests, contact support@austershield.com.

About the AI coach. When you quit a session early, the goal you typed and your declared weakness are sent to Google’s Gemini API to write the message. Depending on the API tier we operate on, Google may use that content to improve its own products, including review by human reviewers. Do not put anything sensitive, private or identifying in the goal field. Nothing else about you is sent — not your name, not your email, not your history.

Legal basis, if you are in the EU or UK

How long we keep it

Your data stays for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and it goes with it — see below. We do not keep backups of deleted accounts beyond the operational retention window of our hosting provider.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, every focus session and every message the AI wrote about you, along with your sign-in record. It cannot be undone, and it does not require contacting us. If you would rather we did it, email support@austershield.com.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Manage that through your Apple or Google account.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Under the GDPR you may also object to processing, request restriction or portability, and complain to your local supervisory authority. Turkish users have equivalent rights under KVKK. Write to support@austershield.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Auster is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access is enforced at the database level: every record is scoped to its owner, and fields you do not own — such as your subscription status — are not writable from the app at all. Payment details never touch our systems; Apple and Google handle them.

This website

austershield.com is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third parties. Your language and protocol preference are kept in your own browser’s local storage and never leave it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
